seattle

^

felt worn out so got out of town and saw friends up north. this burger (in seattle) was inspiration - i'd seen it posted on flickr and couldn't stop thinking about it. the weather held up, a little chilly but great for walks and so on and so forth.

did a little sketching, a little shopping, a little drinking and a little katamari damacy. now i'm back and will hit that pile of work like nobody's business. wait... did i say that right?

the guts of the book were sent out to the separators today. still have some work to do before getting the book out, but everything is well on its way now, pfew! i am so, so glad to be working with Blue Apple Books. they are understanding forthright people who can put up with my tardiness and other bad habits. lucky, lucky ducky.

this book is for...

from the blue apple books frontlist catalog

TOC - still working on it some

the cover and interior end papers, the window will be smaller than shown here

APE booty

champion couple schmelllen and calvin do halloween right

i had one foot in APE and one foot in my LTK project and one foot in keeping the good company of my out-of-town friends, and unfortunately i don't have that many feet.

i did pick up some minicomics and art , my neighbors on both sides were super nice, though the guys from hawaii were probably sick of hearing me gab by the end of the convention. i can't shut up at shows - it's a nervous tick. i act outgoing and extroverted when what i really want to do is crawl under the bed and hide.

by josh frankel
i love his books, look forward to every single one of them

rival couple thien and lark manage to get their books ready for APE
thien sells out of books, lark sells two.
thien's hand stich binding is worth it, my tape binding... maybe not so much.

laura park and geegar's new tribute to freddie
they also loaned me the movie (#3) so i can get up to speed on things

hardback humor by johnny ryan and jesse reklaw
i can't wait to read these either!

hellen's and calvin's minis are both brilliant and beautiful
they're like a decade younger than me and they kick ass way harder!

Jason Shiga's new romantic comedy which i didn't find at all to be funny, but
otherwise it was one of the best comics i have read all year
toast pin by scout (upper right)

my favorite zine by the lovely slj

Jesse Eisenhower and Veronica Graham
neighbors to my right, they had long beautiful printed scrolls
i am glad we got to meet

lille carre stash!
i was lucky to meet her, she is a dream

from top to bottom:
comics and zines by jed alexander, razmig,
jesse reklaw, ken macCarty,
nick mullins and mark miyake
sorry to lump it all together (my camera's running out of batteries)

neighbors to my left, they have plush toys and professionally printed books i'm going to show these to my sister when she gets into town

jesse and eames and the bag that had been everywhere

at the end of APE i was glad to spend some time with friends. i had missed them a lot.
